1 Peter
1:22 Now that you
have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have
sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart. 23 For
you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of
imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.
The New Birth
1. You have been born again.
1 Peter 1:3 Praise
be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into
a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
John 3:3 Jesus
replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless
they are born again.
James 1:18 He
chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a
kind of firstfruits of all he created.
2. Not with perishable seed.
John 1:13 children
born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but
born of God.
3. You were born again with the living and
abiding Word of God.
Hebrews 4:12 For
the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any
double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints
and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
